What Is Relational Consulting? (And Why It Matters More Than You Think)

When people think of consulting, they often imagine spreadsheets, strategies, and high-level meetings with executives. And sure, those have their place. But for me, consulting has never been about simply solving surface problems—it's about people.

Relational consulting starts with relationships. Not just with the leadership, but with the whole team. It's about stepping into the daily rhythm of an organization and getting to know the actual humans doing the work. Because here's the truth: the health of an organization has everything to do with the people inside of it.
I've never met a stranger—try me. Once we meet, you'll see that my approach to consulting is more like pulling up a chair than giving a presentation. I want to hear your story, your frustrations, your dreams for the work you're doing. And I want to do the same with your team.
Your mission statement might be beautifully worded and displayed in bold letters on your website—but is it alive in your staff? Do they know it, believe it, and feel like they're a part of it? Relational consulting begins by helping your team reconnect with the "why" behind the work. Because when people are aligned with the mission and understand their unique role in carrying it out, something powerful happens: they show up differently. They lead differently. They belong differently.
From there, the real work begins—getting to know each person's gifts, capacities, and how they naturally function. My role is to help identify and nurture those strengths, and then create structures where people can thrive without being forced into a one-size-fits-all model. I help leaders and teams build pathways of shared development, so people aren’t just surviving their roles—they're growing in them.
Trust and loyalty don’t happen overnight. But they are the roots of any mission that wants to grow tall and last long. A checklist of strategies might get you somewhere, but investing in the relationships within your organization? That will carry you further than any template ever could.
So if you're looking for someone to help you build stronger programs or restructure your team—great. But if you're also looking for someone who will take the time to get to know your people, care about your culture, and walk with you through the process—even better.
That's relational consulting. And it's what I do best.
